About the PCEDC

Blue Township & East Manhattan is the fastest growing area in Pottawatomie County.

Blue Township is located just east of the Manhattan City limit along the U.S. Highway 24 corridor. The area is presently unincorporated. Taxes are low and public services are mainly provided by Pottawatomie County and its affiliated service agencies. This area experienced dramatic residential and commercial growth throughout the decade of the 90's. This growth continues today.

Blue Township is home to Green Valley Business Park, owned by our corporation, which houses numerous small and intermediate sized industrial and service businesses. The corporation has lots for sale to qualifying businesses in this park at very reasonable rates.

The residential quality of life in Blue Township is quite high. The area near our business park is mainly residential, with many recently built and new start homes in the area. These are safe, quiet family neighborhoods, inhabited mainly by younger professionals and their families. Many are managed by homeowners associations. Some of the neighborhoods maintain their own recreational facilities, including swimming pools, tennis and basketball courts, etc. Employment is conveniently nearby in either Manhattan or Wamego.

East Manhattan is that portion of Pottawatomie County which is also part of the City of Manhattan. This area has become wholly commercial, with a mix of industries, service businesses and retail establishments both large and small. Shoppers can find almost any retail product or service in this area. Businesses in East Manhattan are major employers and property tax from this area helps support the entire county. Retail business in this area pays Manhattan sales taxes. This vibrant area continues to grow both in the number of businesses as well as business expansions.
