The City of Wamego is only 10 minutes east of Blue Township and offers a unique historic museum complex, a beautifully restored and active community theater and renowned annual events including the Tulip Festival and ("biggest and best") 4th of July celebration. New attractions being developed in Wamego include a new museum offering a world class collection of OZ artifacts and exhibits, to be open in 2003. Westmoreland is also only a few miles from the Blue Township area. "Flush Road" (so named in early years because the postmaster found the spelling "Fleusch" too difficult) is the county highway from Blue Township to Westmoreland. It is the oldest road in the county and a very scenic 15 minute drive. Westmoreland offers its own well-developed historic museum complex, Scott Springs Oregon Trail historic site, RV campground and downtown gift shops. Blue Township/East Manhattan is only a few miles east of Manhattan proper. The K-State Wildcats offer "big-time" Big 12 athletic events. McCain theater operates year round and offers a plethora of cultural events. Many other cultural attractions are in or near the City of Manhattan. Additional information about these three communities and their attractions
can be found below.
