Health Care



Onaga's Community HealthCare Systems (www.chcs-ks.org) is a unique, fully integrated, rural regional health care system with its headquarters in Onaga. It provides a clinic, acute care hospital, home health, assisted living facility and health club, with indoor heated pool and fully equipped gym to residents of Onaga and the surrounding area. The health club is open to public membership at a modest fee.

A private long-term care facility is also located in Onaga.

The availability of a full range of health care makes Onaga different from most small rural communities and is one of the reasons Onaga remains a robust community.

Education



Public education is provided by Unified School District 322, which is also headquartered Onaga and provides K-12 education for children throughout its district, including the communities of Havensville and Wheaton.

Both Community HealthCare Systems and USD 322 are major employers for Onaga and the surrounding area.

Higher education is available within an hour drive of Onaga through Kansas State University (www.ksu.edu), Washburn University (www.washburn.edu) and Highland Community College (www.highland.cc.ks.us). Technical education is available through Highland Community College in Frankfurt or Wamego and the Manhattan Area Technical College (www.matc.net) in Manhattan. 90 minutes away from Onaga are both the University of Kansas (www.ku.edu) in Lawrence and the University of Nebraska (www.nebraska.edu)in Lincoln.
