There are 5 city parks in Onaga, offering swimming, tennis, athletic fields, picnic areas, playgrounds and an amphitheater for theatrical productions. The Pottawatomie County Fair Board manages the fairgrounds in Onaga.
The fairgrounds include RV parking, picnic areas, exhibit halls, stock
shelters, and a Historic Sale Barn which has been acquired by a local
non-profit organization in preparation for historic rehabilitation. The area around Onaga is very scenic, offering steep hills, abrupt
bluffs, scenic vistas and verdant stream valleys. Each of the following
attractions takes advantage of these unusual amenities. Cool Springs Golf Course is located just north of Onaga on private land. This beautiful course is new in 2001, open to the public and offers a clubhouse as well as 9 challenging holes of golf in the rolling hills of northern Pottawatomie County. Two major hiking-biking trails have been mapped along seldom-traveled dirt and gravel roads, each trail beginning and ending in Onaga. Onaga "A" is a 23.5 mile route of which 22.6 miles are on dirt or gravel roads. It offers some of the highest elevations and most scenic views in the area. It is also the second most difficult biking trail in the county with a vertical length of 13.9 miles (hills). The 43.5 mile long Onaga "B" trail is the most difficult
biking trail of all the Pottawatomie County Hiking-Biking trails, rated
.98 on a 1.0 scale of difficulty. It has 24 vertical miles (hills).
It is also wonderfully scenic, wending its way along its entire length
on gravel or dirt roads. Click
