The biggest historic attraction in St. Marys is the remarkable campus of St. Marys Academy and College, which overlooks the town of St. Marys and the beautiful Kansas River Valley. This is a working religious institution and visitors must make prior arrangements to visit buildings other than the chapel. Other historic churches and buildings are located in the town of St. Marys itself. The St. Marys Museum and Pay Station features the original old Pottawatomie
Tribal Pay Station and an adjoining museum building filled with historic
artifacts from the later settlement of the St. Marys area. The St. Marys Chamber of Commerce sponsors several annual events including a major 4th of July celebration, Christmas celebration and The Kaw Valley Festival which is a major community event held the second Saturday in May. The Pottawatomie-Wabaunsee Regional Library in St. Marys maintains
a collection of 56,000 books as well as selected microfilm archives
