Education and Health Care

Any thoughtful parent would be happy to have children in Pottawatomie County. We are home to three excellent public school districts. Several private denominational schools and one private university are also in the county. Highland Community College maintains a major campus in Wamego. Kansas State University and Washburn University are within a one hour drive from anywhere in the county. The University of Kansas is within 1.5 hours of any location in the county. Manhattan Area Technical College is also nearby and provides high-quality technical-vocational training programs.

Emergency Medical Services are provided countywide by county government. Our county is also served by two outstanding community health and hospital systems, the county health department and a number of nonprofit health agencies providing preventive and home-based care for people with special needs.
