Ride
for Trails!
The
net proceeds from the ride will help fund the WAM-SAG-MAN Recreational
Trail that will begin in Wamego and connect with Saint George
and Manhattan's Linear Trail..
Looking
for an early spring ride? Then please join us Saturday, October
4 for a day of bicycling in beautiful Pottawatomie County, Kansas.
The
Yellow Brick Road Ride will begin and end at Wamego High School,
8th and Elm Street, Wamego, KS.
The
Yellow Brick Road Ride includes three routes:
50.5-mile paved route -
MAP
Check-in: 7:00 a.m. until 8:15 a.m.
Mass start: All riders depart at 8:30 a.m.
27-mile
paved route -
MAP
Check-in: 7:00 a.m. until 8:15 a.m.
Mass start: All riders depart at 8:30 a.m.
15-mile
paved route -
MAP
Check-in: 7:00 a.m. until 8:45 a.m.
Mass start: All riders
depart at 9:00 a.m.
Riders may turn around
at any point during the 15-mile route to customize riding distance.
These are NOT races. All ability levels are welcome.

Your
pre-registration form must be postmarked by September 12, 2008
to guarantee the 2008
Yellow Brick Road Ride
T-shirt. Registration is $25 for the 27- and 50.5-mile routes.
Registration is $15 for the 15-mile route. All entry fees are
non-refundable.
A
$30 entry fee will be charged for those who do not pre-register
by September 12, 2008 or who register the morning of the ride
for the 27- and 50.5-mile routes. A $20 entry
fee will be charged for riders who do not pre-register or who
register the morning of the ride for the 15-mile route.
Breakfast
is available for non-riding family/friends for $7 if the pre-registration
for is received by September 30, 2008.
Our
caterer needs a 'head count' so we have enough of her great food.
This means that breakfast is only available if you pre-register
(riders and non-riders) by September 30.

Yellow Brick Road Ride

- Bicycle mechanic available at start for minor repairs
- SAG support
- Shower
facilities at the Wamego High School. Please bring your own towel,
soap, etc.
There will be a Road ID drawing for eight $15 certificates that
will take place after registration. Winners will be notified after

Rest stops will be approximately every 8-13 miles. Beverages
and snacks will be provided. We will have support vehicles traveling
the route. Each rider should carry a spare tube, patch kit, and
frame pump just in case. Riders unable to finish will be transported
back to Wamego. |

On Interstate 70, take exit 328 (Hwy. 99). Go
north on Hwy. 99, 9.5 miles to Wamego. At the 4th Street intersection
(on Hwy. 99), turn left (west) one block to Elm. Turn right and
proceed four blocks to Wamego High School, which is at 8 th &
Elm. Parking is available along Elm and 8 th Street, in the parking
lot west of the high school, and along Lincoln Street east of
the High School. |

Information
WIN
A $1000 GIFT CERTIFICATE: The Pathfinder in Manhattan, KS has donated
a $1000 gift certificate to be used as a fundraiser for the WAM-SAG-MAN
Trail project. Donate $5 ( $25 donation gets you six chances ). Chances
can be purchased through October 4 until 1:30pm with the drawing on
Saturday, October 4, at 2pm during the Yellow Brick Road Ride. You do
not need to be present to win. Chances can be purchased anytime at The
Pathfinder, at 4th of July event in Wamego, Riley County Fair, Purple
Power Play on Poyntz, St George Family Fun Day and at Yellow Brick Road
Ride on October 4. All donations will be added to the WAM-SAG-MAN 501c3
Trail fund. Certificate must be redeemed by December 31, 2008.

Body
First will have one, maybe two massage therapists. They will give
10-minute massages for $10. We will not be collecting any
money ahead of time for this but if you want a massage let us know so
we have a pretty good idea how many people they need to prepare
for. You will pay the massage therapist when you get your massage.
The Pottawatomie/Wabaunsee
County Safe Kids Chapter will have free bicycle helmets from 730am to
10am or until supplies last. Location is the Wamego High School
(south entrance). You do not need to be a registered bicyclist
for the Yellow Brick Road Ride to get a free helmet. Contact Deputy
