Pottawatomie County Receives Maintenance Work Ready Status From ACT

Pottawatomie County became a Certified Work Ready County in December 2016 and has continued to maintain its certification and add new objectives. Pottawatomie County received Maintenance status the next year by continuing programs such as closing skills gaps by helping individuals improve their work readiness skills; conducting job analyses to help companies better leverage the WorkKeys National Career Ready Certificate® (NCRC) in hiring and promotion; and integrating the WorkKeys NCRC as the foundational level in the model of stackable credentials established by the U.S. Department of Labor, to help ensure that local targets are aligned with the skills needed in high demand careers. In 2019 Pottawatomie County received double maintenance status and was awarded triple maintenance status in early 2020. Pottawatomie County is only the third county in the nation to achieve that status. This ensures employers that the young adults have the cognitive and foundational skills to be able to work in the majority of the 22,000 jobs profiled by ACT.
