According to the Federal Highway Administration’s website, In 2016, Kansas ranked 4th in the nation for total miles of public roads. The state has 142,047 miles of public roads throughout Kansas in 2017. Moreover, with 289,948 total lane miles in 2017, Kansas ranked 4th in the nation. Kansas now charges 24.03 cents per gallon on gasoline (excluding federal gas taxes).  Kansas has one of the lower gas tax rates in the country.
